Nominator's project description
| Professor Pappu is well known internationally for his research in genomics, biotechnology and management of viruses infecting plants. His work on tospoviruses, a group of viruses causing serious losses in legumes, vegetables and ornamentals worldwide with the insect vectors transmitting the viruses, has significantly advanced our understanding of virus-host interactions at the molecular level. During his stay in Germany, Professor Pappu investigates transcriptome responses of plants infected with viruses from diverse taxa to define common and virus-specific molecular patterns. |
